What a nice day to go to the pub
Located in the heart of Brunswick, The only-slightly-sporty-Sporting Club boasts an extensive menu, a well-selected range of local and international beers, wines, spirits, liqueurs and cocktails, and almost all friendly staff.
What's in a name?
As we are rather more sporty by name than nature we have only one telly and only free to air tv. That said, we do support local sporting events and play host to an annual super mario cart championship, hold the awards ceremonies for three separate indoor soccer teams and are the proud home ground of the most Bukowskiesque pool team in the premier league. We also have regular athletic contests over that kind of upright coits, ring toss game and pinball. Even small children are encouraged to develop their athletic prowess here with our plastic bouncing horse thing and our plastic trike that I found abandoned by the roadside.
What's in the kitchen?
Described as "Brunswick’s hidden gem" by Patrick from down the street, The Sporting Club has a lovely chef that hardly ever goes crazy ape bonkers, and cooks excellent food.
What's in the pub?
Our labyrinthine pub contains such diverse areas as:
A large FOOTPATH SEATING area, a place to see and be seen by the high-society of Brunswick's premier shopping location, The Sparkly Bear;
Our FRONT BAR which not only contains our live-music stage but affords the discerning patron the fastest access to drinks service in the entire venue. The front bar is a pretty swell place;
The LADIES LOUNGE, a fine small room in the old part of the pub, it contains paintings of french dolphins and farmyard animals that will appeal to ladies, gentlemen and low-born persons of ill-repute alike;
Our SIDE BEER GARDEN which is distinct from our REAR BEER GARDEN by virtue of its olive trees, attenuated layout, and complete lack of a pergola;
Our REAR BEER GARDEN which contains the aforementioned pergola, and looks really nice;
Finally, our beautifully appointed DINING ROOM which I decline to describe here so you have something to discover when you come in.
On Mondays we are closed, but on other nights you might catch some live music in the front bar - especially on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays when we actually have bands performing there.
What should I do now?
So pop in and order the nicest thing on the menu and a specific drink that you will like. We'd very much like to see you. Think of it as somewhere that everybody knows your name, even though we don't actually know you and our short-term memories are a little shabby.
The Sporting Club is open Tuesday to Friday from 4pm, Saturday and Sunday from 12pm.
Private functions are available.
There are so many specials that it would be tedious to list them here, come because it's an awesome pub. We'll let you know about specific bargains when you arrive.
